Benefit from 0% VAT
Amidst the energy price crisis and the Government’s journey to net zero, we’re seeing plenty of initiatives introduced to promote renewable energy.
In April 2022, the Government scrapped VAT on energy-efficient measures, including solar panels.
The initiative will run until April 2027. Afterwards, VAT rates will return to the reduced rate of 5%. When the Government introduced the 0% rate, it also welcomed the permanent removal of specific eligibility criteria previously tied to the 5% rate. So, as a result, everyone can benefit from the 0% VAT rate until April 2027, making now an excellent time to switch to solar.
Solar Panel Grants
As mentioned above, the Government has introduced several initiatives and grants to encourage households and businesses to invest in solar. At the time of writing, current grants include the Smart Expert Guarantee (SEG), which means you can earn money for exporting surplus energy back to the grid and the Energy Company Obligation 4.
